Let me start off by saying, skinboosters are not for everyone, but for me and my practice, they align perfectly. If you’re looking to alter your appearance with extensive filler injections, I am likely not the right cosmetic injector for you.

Hyaluronic acid is a natural substance that retains moisture in our bodies, but we lose about 1% annually from age 28, leading to dry skin and visible signs of aging. Through micro-injections beneath the skin, Restylane® SKINBOOSTERS™ use stabilized hyaluronic acid so that it does not degrade at the same rate as natural ones, offering sustained hydration. So what does this all mean? You can essentially restore the natural composition of the skin to its younger days. Let’s break it all down.
What are Restylane® SKINBOOSTERS™?
Restylane® SKINBOOSTERS™ are a treatment that utilizes a series of micro-injections of hyaluronic acid. This acid is naturally present in our bodies, mainly found in the skin, connective tissues, and eyes. Its primary function is to retain water, ensuring our skin remains hydrated and plump. Since natural hyaluronic acid quickly forms and degrades (witin 24-48 hours), to allow the hyaluronic acid in Restylane® SKINBOOSTERS™ last longer (several months up to a year) degradation is delayed by cross-linking the hyaluronic acid molecules. This allows Restylane® SKINBOOSTERS™ to form small “reservoirs” of moisture beneath the skin surface that will improve skin elasticity, smoothness, and radiance.
How are Restylane® SKINBOOSTERS™ different from other dermal fillers?
This is a question I recieve quite frequently. While both are derived from hyaluronic acid, there's a fundamental difference. Traditional fillers are designed to fill in deep wrinkles, folds, and to sculpt facial features. Restylane® SKINBOOSTERS™, on the other hand, are not meant to "fill" in the traditional sense. Instead, they hydrates the skin and improves its overall texture and luminosity. I like to tell patients to think of them it like giving your skin a deep drink of water.
Which SKINBOOSTERS™ is right for me?
There are two Restylane® SKINBOOSTERS™ variants tailored for specific skin needs and areas of treatment: Restylane® Vital™ and Restylane® Vital Light™. Vital™ is the original product in the range and is formulated to improve skin conditions such as fine lines, skin elasticity, and overall hydration and has a greater concentration of natural hyaluronic acid (20 mg/mL of hyaluronic acid) which is injected into the deep dermis and which can effectively treat the most mature skin. Vital Light™ (12 mg/mL of hyaluronic acid) is tailored for more delicate skin and injected into the middle dermis and is more indicated in the youngest skins, particularly around delicate regions like the lower eyelids and mouth, as well as the décolletage, back of the hands, and the neck. Both these types are designed to offer deep dermal hydration, enhancing the skin's firmness, elasticity, and radiance. However, the specific product chosen often depends on individual skin needs (something we will discuss during your complimentary consult).
Who are Restylane® SKINBOOSTERS™ suitable for?
The beauty of Restylane® SKINBOOSTERS™ are their versatility. Whether you’re in your 20s and looking for preventative care, or in your 50s aiming to rejuvenate and refresh your complexion, this treatment can be beneficial. It's effect treatment to address concerns like fine lines, dehydrated skin, and lackluster complexion.
While Restylane® SKINBOOSTERS™ are suitable for many, they are not for everyone. Individuals with certain medical conditions or those on specific medications may need to refrain from the treatment. Patients with a history of severe allergies, especially to gram-positive bacterial proteins, or those with a history of anaphylaxis should avoid it. Pregnant or breastfeeding mothers and those with active skin infections or inflammation at the injection site should also wait before considering the treatment. Always consult with your family doctor before introducing a new treatment into your routine. After your consultation with me, you are never pressured to go through with the treatment if you aren’t 100 percent comfortable moving forward. I always recommend my patient do their own research in addition to the information I provide.
How long does the treatment take? And is it painful?
A typical Restylane® SKINBOOSTERS™ treatments take anywhere between 20 to 30 minutes—expect a little longer during your first treatment for consultation and postcare instructions. Similar to any cosmetic injection treatments you may have had previously, SKINBOOSTERS™ are not painful (most of my patients compare the sensation to a slight pinch or prick). However, to ensure maximum comfort, a numbing cream can be applied before the procedure if desired. Injections are relatively quick and the discomfort is minimal—a small price for the results you’ll see for months to come.
What areas can be treated with Restylane® SKINBOOSTERS™?
While the face is the most common area of treatment, Restylane® SKINBOOSTERS™ are also extremely effective when treating the neck, décolletage, and hands—three areas often overlooked, but can reveal signs of aging.
How soon can I see results? And how long do they last?
Post-treatment, many patients notice an immediate improvement in their skin's hydration and luminosity. However, the full effects, such as improved skin texture and elasticity, become more apparent after a few sessions. A typical treatment plan often involves two to three initial sessions spaced a month apart, followed by maintenance sessions every six to twelve months. Results vary from person to person, but can last up to 12 months.

What are the potential side effects of SKINBOOSTERS™?
Like any cosmetic procedure, there are potential side effects, although they're generally mild and temporary. Some patients might experience redness, swelling, or slight bruising or bumps at the injection sites. These usually resolve within a few days. We will review all possible side effects and proper aftercare during your consultation. I always ensure that my patients are well-informed so they can make the best decision for themselves.
Can SKINBOOSTERS™ be combined with other treatments?
Absolutely! Restylane® SKINBOOSTERS™ can work in tandem with other cosmetic procedures. For instance, pairing the hydrating and texture benefits of SKINBOOSTERS™ with wrinkle-eliminating benefits of a neuromodulator can yield fantastic results that remain subtle. That being said, it is not recommended to combine SKINBOOSTERS™ with treatments such as chemical peels or IPL treatments within two weeks of your injections.
